Idols of Lord Murugan and other Gods found broken near Viralimalai, locals file complaint

New idols of Lord Murugan and other Hindu Gods that were newly erected on the path to the Viralimalai Murugan Temple were found to be broken to smithereens by locals. Pictures of these were shared by Viralimalai MLA Dr. C. Vijayabhaskar.

A complaint was lodged with the local police and a plea has been registered to identify the perpetrators who had vandalised the path to the temple.

Dr Vijayabaskar, the former minister for Health And Family Welfare of Tamil Nadu, posted on his Twitter page condemning the dastardly act.

His tweet read, “I was heartbroken to see the newly erected Swami idols on the hillside of Viralimalai Murugan Temple being broken. I strongly condemn this. A complaint has been lodged with the police to take stern action against the perpetrators of this heinous act.”

It is to be noted that the foundation stone for the road leading to the temple had been laid by Vijayabaskar in 2019. He had also been instrumental in implementing as well as the construction of the parking lot atop the hill. He had also contested in the constituency in the recent elections.
