Idols found vandalized in Temple at Ranipet

In yet another case of vandalism in temples, mysterious persons have damaged the idols and the trident (soolam), in one of the oldest temples near Kaveripakkam, Ranipet district. The temple is situated in Athipatti village, near Kaveripakkam.

There is a very old Durga temple located in this village. A lot of devotees visited the temple on the 1st of January, on the occasion of English New Year. The priest had locked the temple doors in the night before leaving home. When the priest visited the temple the next day, the idols and the trident were vandalised and broken. The priest then filed a complaint with the Kaveripakkam Police, who are currently investigating the matter.
