A video of DMK Rural Industries Minister saying, “I will slit your throat,” in a party meeting in Kanchipuram has gone viral on social media.
A meeting of DMK general members was held last Wednesday in Madurantakam, Kanchipuram district. The meeting was attended by Rural Industries Minister Anbarasan, in which he said,” This meeting is very important. Our government has won the last assembly elections and is in power. But we have no MLAs in this constituency.”
“It is our responsibility to make you sit as local body representatives in the coming local body elections. Local body representatives should be our party persons to take the programs brought by the government to the people. At the same time we have already told the party head to not give important posts to AIADMK members who jumped the ship to DMK,” he added.
In addition, he stated that local body elections will be held in September and that all cadres should work for the victory of whoever the leadership chooses to run for the seat.
He further stated that if the DMK office bearers do not win the upcoming local body elections in September, he will slit their throats.
The minister’s speech came under severe criticism from netizens who said that it was clearly unacceptable for a people’s representative to speak in this manner.
