I.N.D.I. Ally DMK Leader RS Bharathi Mocks MGR; Glorifies DMK’s Separatist History; Says Only DMK Men Can Claim To Be Born To One Father

A recent gathering took place to commemorate the birthday of DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in Salavakkam near Uthramerur, Kanchipuram district. The event, led by DMK union secretary Kumar and attended by Uttaramerur assembly member Sundar and Kanchipuram MP G. Selvam, featured DMK’s Organizing Secretary RS Bharati as a speaker.

During his address, Bharati made incendiary remarks against opposition party leaders, including former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MG Ramachandran (MGR) and Prime Minister Modi, while also making unsubstantiated claims.

When discussing MGR, he mocked the circumstances of his death, linking it to the AIADMK founder’s speech where he called for the banning of the DMK.

Prior to the Kanchipuram conference, MGR addressed a gathering in Trichy. During this speech, against the backdrop of SD Somasundaram leaving the party, the venue witnessed a sparse crowd. An agitated MGR expressed his intention to ban the DMK then. The following day, Karunanidhi spoke at Kanchipuram questioned who was that who wanted to ban the DMK (here Karunanidhi has used disrespectful terms to address MGR in singular). Unfortunately, this speech by MGR turned out to be his final public meeting address.

RS Bharathi said, The last speech was when he said that he would ban the DMK. His arms and legs were paralysed, he was admitted to Apollo, and remained speechless and gone. I want Modi to understand this and that is why I am reminding him of it.

In response to the recent criticism from PM Narendra Modi in his Thoothukudi speech, RS Bharathi said, “All those who said they will destroy the DMK have been destroyed themselves. If you have to understand history, Modi must realise that he is not greater than Pandit Nehru.”

Bharathi slipped the truth that Nehruvian Congress had also considered sidelining the DMK but later managed to get hold by contesting that even though DMK helped his daughter Indira Gandhi.

He said, Do you know what Nehru once remarked about the DMK? He said, ‘I’ll pack the DMK to whichever nation it wants’. However, it was DMK and Kalaignar that gave a helping hand to the same Nehru’s daughter when she found herself in a predicament.

Later, RS Bharathi took pride in the DMK advocating for a separate nation, leading to the creation of a distinct IPC act to impede such aspirations. He said, “You go to every town and poach ministers and buy MLAs, but in Tamil Nadu you can’t even touch the slippers of DMK’s last-mile cadres. Even if he dies, he will not change his party and survive. If someone asks Dravida Nadu as a separate nation, 7 years of imprisonment. Today’s politicians doesn’t know the fact. To the Indian Penal Code Section 153, they added a separate section 153 A, to give 7 years imprisonment. They changed the law exclusively for the DMK in 1962. Even with law, they could not destroy DMK. Can you destroy it by shouting?”

Later, he made misogynistic and sexist comments about the DMK using their unique symbol to contest elections, mocking other political parties. He said, There is no other party in India except DMK which contests under the same symbol from the day the party was started and stood in the elections till now. Be it 1957 or 1962, 1967 or 1971 – it was all under the rising sun symbol, we are competing under the rising sun symbol till 2021. Mr. Modi, does any other party in India can claim of such a thing? If people are angry in the village, they will say something like “I am born to one father”, and similarly in politcs, only DMK men can say that they’re born to one father. This man came and talked yesterday without knowing this pride.

In response to RS Bharati’s above claims, netizens promptly ridiculed him and debunked the lies by sharing an article containing data that contradicted the claim. The article highlighted that the DMK did not consistently align itself with the rising sun symbol; instead, it initially contested elections using the rooster symbol.
