A group of youngsters in Hyderabad has been offering care to the pets of COVID victims. This initiative, called the Scoobies Pet Service, has been caring for the pets whose owners have been affected by the coronavirus infection.
Panneeru Teja, who runs this service in Hyderabad, had told InUth that the patients are already under a lot of stress after contracting the infection, and do not know how to properly care for their pets or where to place them if they are forced to be quarantined in hospitals or in isolation facilities. Upon observing their plight, he had come forward to offer them respite.
Teja says that, in some cases, several people had even abandoned their pets fearing that they could possibly contract this infection from them. He adds that pets are not carriers of this novel coronavirus, and they harbour nothing but love for their owner, and so, they should not be abandoned because of misinformation.
Teja had already been running a pet boarding service with three others in Hyderabad for the past 4 years. The pets are picked up by Teja and his team, who give the pets a medicated bath and feed them according to their requirements. They charge according to the distance from the shelter to the pet’s location. Although this was started off as an initiative primarily catering to dogs, Teja has now accepted requests from COVID patients who have cats as well.
