Hundi broken and money swindled from Amman Temple in Coimbatore

In a shocking incident, the hundi of Sri Kuppamman Maariamman Temple in Coimbatore was found broken and money swindled by unidentified miscreants. This is the third time the temple has been robbed.

Sri Kuppaman Mariamman Temple is located in the Ganapathi area of ​​Coimbatore and is said to be 150 years old with hundreds of devotees visiting the temple on daily basis.

On January 15, the temple priest Thirunavukkarasar after finishing the evening pooja, locked the temple and went home. When he came to open the temple the next morning at 6 AM, he was shocked to find the lock of the front door broken and the hundi missing. Another hundi kept inside the temple was also found to be missing.

He immediately informed the temple treasurer Balakrishnan. The two later looked around the temple and found the two hundis lying broken and empty at the backyard. Money from the hundi had been looted from the hundis by the miscreants.

Followig this, a complaint was lodged with the Saravanampatti police who rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. The police are examining the footage recorded by the surveillance cameras in the temple area.

According to some devotees, this is the third robbery at the temple.
