Amid reports of widespread violence against Hindus in West Bengal, allegedly carried out by workers and supporters of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC), the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance has announced that it will carry out a protest against the killings of Hindus.
The protest by the Hindu advocacy group will be held on May 7, 10 AM at the Dhaka Press Club.
The protestors will also burn the effigy of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, who on May 5 took oath as the chief minister of West Bengal for the third time.

Thousands of Hindus had fled Bangladesh to West Bengal in the aftermath of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, which had led to an influx of Hindu refugees in the Indian state. Thousands more had fled to India over the years, when faced with persecution in the Muslim-majority country.
Post-poll violence has ensued over the past two days across West Bengal, with reports emerging of TMC workers torching and looting offices, residences and shops owned by Hindus, killing Hindus across political lines and raping Hindu women.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vowed to ‘dismantle’ the political violence in the state.
“Those who were supposed to protect others are the ones responsible for this violence. They can take the oath, everyone has the right to do so in a democracy. But we also take an oath to dismantle political violence in Bengal”, national president JP Nadda said, while addressing BJP workers.
The BJP also took an oath to “protect the Constitutional values laid down by Dr. BR. Ambedkar against the political violence going on in Bengal” and “ensure equality for everyone” in the state.
