Hindu Munnani Seeks Ban On Illegal Prayer House Near Vinayaka Temple In Marungoor Panchayat For Trying To Convert Hindus

The Hindu Munnani has lodged a formal complaint with the Thittacheri police station in Nagapattinam district, calling for a ban on the prayer house functioning illegally opposite the Vinayaka temple in Marungoor panchayat of Thirumarugal block. The complaint highlights concerns over purported religious conversions in the area.

In a petition addressed to the Sub-Inspector of Thittacheri, the Hindu Munnani detailed their grievances. “In Thirumarugal block, Marungoor main road, opposite the ‘Selva Ganapathi’ Vinayagar temple, there is an ‘Arpudha Bestha Jebalayam’ which is functioning against the law. This prayer group is brainwashing poor Hindus with the intent of converting them to Christianity. They are also targeting patients in the government hospital under the guise of missionary work and pressuring them to convert. This illegal activity should be stopped, and action should be taken against them,” the petition states.

The Hindu Munnani alleges that the activities of the synagogue, which they claim operates under the name “Arpudha Bestha Jebalayam,” are not only unlawful but also harmful to the social fabric of the local community. They argue that the group’s methods involve exploiting vulnerable individuals, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and coercing them into changing their faith.

Recently, missionaries were caught openly carrying Bibles in their shoulder bags and targeting the downtrodden and hopeless for conversion to Christianity in broad daylight at the government hospital (GH) in Kumbakonam. A BJP functionary swiftly intervened and thwarted the proselytization attempt.
