Members of the Hindu Munnani protested against the holding of illegal Christian prayer meeting at a house near Kaliyakkavilai in Kanyakumari district.
A man named Kalesh had rented a house few months ago at Boothapilavilai area in Padanthalumoodu located near Kaliyakavilai, and had been living with his family there.
It was reported that the house was being used as a ‘prayer house’ with neighbours objecting to the frequent blares from the loudspeakers attached to the house.
Rajesh, who lives next to the hoise had filed a police complaint at the Kaliyakkavilai police station following which the police filed a case against Kalesh and prohibited him from using the house as a prayer house.
However, Kalesh defied the police orders and continued to use his house as a prayer house. He even reportedly fixed a surveillance camera directed at Rajesh’s house.
Following this, members of the Hindu Munnani staged a protest and held a ‘prayer meeting’ inside the house of Kalesh. This had led to tense situation with police arriving on the spot.
The police tried to pacify the protestors and assured to take action against Kalesh along with removing the surveillance camera that was fixed by him.
