Hindu Munnani Files Complaint Against Pollachi Govt School Headmistress For Allowing Friday Namaz On School Campus

The Hindu Munnani has lodged a formal complaint with the Pollachi Deputy Collector and the District Education Office, demanding action against the headmistress of the government high school in Diwanshah Pudur. The complaint centers on the headmistress allowing Friday Namaz (prayers) to be conducted on school premises, which the complainants argue undermines the secular environment of the school attended by students from diverse religious backgrounds.

In recent weeks, it has been reported that Friday prayers have been regularly held at the school, raising concerns among local advocates. The headmistress claimed that she only authorized the prayers for one week and was unsure if they had continued. This response has drawn criticism, as the school serves a varied student population, and such practices could be perceived as preferential treatment, potentially leading to religious discord and mental distress among students.

In light of these concerns, officials from the Hindu Munnani Youth Front have emphasized that the continuation of these prayers may negatively impact the school’s atmosphere. They have submitted a petition to the District Deputy Collector and the District Education Officer, urging the discontinuation of Islamic prayers and calling for accountability regarding the headmaster’s unclear handling of the situation.
