Hindu Munnani state president Kaadeshwara Subramaniam slammed the DMK government for passing a resolution in the Tamil Nadu assembly urging the union government to grant reservations to Scheduled Caste people who converted to Christianity. He stated that the DMK’s move is an injustice to Hindu Scheduled Caste people.
The DMK Government in Tamil Nadu headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin passed a resolution in the Legislative Assembly today urging the Central Government to bring amendments in the laws to give reservation to the Adi Dravidars who have converted to Christianity.
Hindu Munnani state president Kaadeswara Subramaniam issued a statement condemning the DMK. In his statement, Kaadeswara Subramanium said, “Tamilnadu Chief Minister Mr.Stalin announced today in the Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly that a resolution will be passed urging the central government to make appropriate legal amendments to provide reservation privileges to Scheduled Castes who have converted to Christianity.”
He added, “Dr. Ambedkar gave a clear view of the reservation. This action by Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister is an attempt to subsidize proselytization groups, which is a betrayal of Dr. Ambedkar’s noble thought. Since its inception, the DMK government has openly served as a mouthpiece for Christians and Muslims. Hindus are being betrayed. Christian educational institutions are run with public tax money. But why is the state government not enforcing the reservation in these minority institutions? Will the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister bring a bill to implement the government’s reservation policy for Christian religious institutions?”
He further said, “Hindu scheduled castes should not lose reservation privileges obtained as a result of humiliations and hardships endured by their forefathers in society, who preferred to live as Hindus with dignity. Hindu Munnani urges the Tamil Nadu people and the Scheduled Caste community to come forward and protest the Tamil Nadu government’s wrongdoing.”
He concluded by saying, “The Hindu Munnani will not hesitate to gather public opinion in order to legally and democratically defeat the Tamil Nadu government’s bill for Christian converts.”
