Hindu Munnani Alleges House Converted Into Prayer Hall In Kollancode, Seeks Approval Cancellation

Hindu Munnani’s Kollancode town unit has submitted a petition to the Kollancode Municipal Commissioner, seeking the cancellation of a residential building approval that it alleges is being misused as a Christian prayer hall.

The petition alleges that a building approved as a residential house has been operating as a prayer hall, while also displaying a signboard identifying it as a place of worship.

According to the memorandum, the building is located in Ward No. 20 of Kollancode Municipality and was granted approval as a residential structure under Building Permit No. 172/02/90020. However, Hindu Munnani alleged that the premises are now functioning as a prayer centre under the name “Pastor Jenish for the Assembly of God Church.”

The organisation further claimed that the property has been exempted from property tax, despite allegedly operating as a prayer hall rather than a residence.

In its petition, Hindu Munnani requested the municipal authorities to revoke the residential building approval, examine the alleged misuse of the property, and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The petition was submitted to the Kollancode Municipal Commissioner by a delegation led by Suresh, President of Hindu Munnani’s Kollancode town unit.
