A man belonging to the Hindu community was beaten to death by a mob over allegations of blasphemy in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district on the night of 18 December 2025, according to a report by BBC Bangla citing police officials.
The incident occurred in the Dubalia Para area of Square Master Bari in Bhaluka Upazila. Police said the victim was assaulted by a group of people who accused him of making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad.
After the man was beaten to death, the attackers tied his body to a tree and set it on fire, Bhaluka Police Station duty officer Ripon Mia told BBC Bangla.
The deceased was identified as Dipu Chandra Das, a young man who worked at a local garment factory. Police said he had been living in the area as a tenant.
Ripon Mia said that an angry crowd caught Dipu around 9 pm on Thursday following the blasphemy allegation. He stated that the mob assaulted him fatally and later set his body ablaze.

Police officials said that upon receiving information about the incident, personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The body was recovered from the scene and sent to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
As of now, no case has been registered in connection with the incident. Ripon Mia said the police were trying to locate the victim’s relatives and that legal action would be taken in accordance with the law once a case was filed.
