Highlights from PM Modi’s reply to Motion of Thanks on President’s address in Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (February 10), delivered his motion of thanks to the President’s address and spoke at length about the farmer empowerment laws and the issues surrounding it.

Here are some of the highlights from his speech:

“When the last British commander left India, he said that India is a land of many countries and it would break. We are on the cusp of celebrating our 75 years of independence. It’s a matter of pride for every Indian & an occasion to move forward.”

“We may be in any corner of the world or belong to any strata of society but we must make a new resolve on where we want to take India at 100 years of freedom”

“Every nation has a message to deliver, a mission to fulfil, a destiny to reach. The mission of India has been to guide humanity. -Swami Vivekanand”

“A new world order took shape after the end of the Second World War and structure to guide the world towards peace. However, everyone can speak peace but not everyone practiced and many countries only increased their military strength.”

“Post corona will also shape a new world order but only time will tell who will lead it but one thing is certain, India cannot be on the sidelines and India must be strong to be part of the new world order and Athamnibhar is the way.”

“Corona was an invisible enemy and no one thought we would succeed but 130 crore people of India and their. discipline and I give credit to the people. We will develop our infrastructure.”

“God blessed India because our doctors, nurses and safai karamcharirs became gods because they did their job and no matter how much we celebrate them it is less.”

“75 crore Indians were provided with rations and using jandhan, aadhar was able to give 2 lakh crore rupees to the people. But we must also ask who tried to stop Aadhar and went to the Supreme Court which would have prevented the poor from getting the facilities.”

“Even in this difficult times we kept our promise of reforms and we have taken some important steps and because of that record sales in cars and tractors and GST and experts all over the world say India will achieve double-digit economic growth.”

“We also brought 3 farm laws to counter years of struggle in our agriculture sector. I wish Congress had discussed the content and intent on the farm laws.”

“Right now many brothers and sisters are sitting outside Delhi because on false notions but the govt will always respect them and that is why ministers were in constant touch with them.”

“This disruption of debate is a pre-planned strategy to divide people and that is why the opposition will never win the trust of the people.”

“I want to ask.. after the farm laws were passed has there been any change on how to sell produce and who the farmers can sell because they have options. In fact we have given more money to improve the old Mandies. These Andolancharies create fear-mongering and confusion”

“I find it strange that when the opposition says we did not ask for these laws but why was it introduced, however, as a progressive nation we brought triple talaq laws, women inheritance laws, dowry laws. No one asked for it but we did.”

“Congress is a confused party that is incapable of helping itself or the country.”

“There have been great Indians who swam against the current to bring changes which were later accepted by the people like Ishwar Chandra Vidya Sagar, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Jothybhai Phulay and BR Ambedkar. Also should we not be sensitive to the people and bring reforms before people ask because that is the best form of democracy.”

“Reform is necessary because even after independence until the 1970 there was a “Churchill Cigar Assistant (CCA)” almost 25 years after Independence to supply him the famed Trichinopoly cigar. However, the fact is Churchill died in 1965″

“No one held protests to have bank accounts or asked for toilets but my government did that anyway because the days of feudalism are over where the people have to ask and we must enable people to exercise their rights.”

“We need investment in our agriculture sector and empower our farmers and not just make wheat and rice and we must not import from other countries. The time has come to reform our agriculture and we must ensure our farmers not be depended on the government.”

“As long as farmers are not helped there can be no progress that is why my government has created policies to help them and have earmarked 1 lakh crore for the agriculture sector.”

“The country needs to differentiate between farmers and andolanjeevs who destroyed mobile towers and spread disinformation.”
