John Bolton, an ex-National Security Advisor to the US government, in an interview responded to President Trump’s train of tweets that had extensively criticised about his memoir, “The Room Where It Happened”. Trump called Bolton a “sick puppy” and a “wacko” on Twitter and said his new memoir — set to be released next week — is “a compilation of lies and made up stories.”
Responding to these comments, Bolton said “I think it’s unbecoming of the Office of President. I think it degrades the political civil discourse in our country and [I’m] just not going to respond to him.” He added that the President wasn’t worried about people from other nations reading his book but his own. He further went on to say that this was the same man who “pleaded China’s Xi Jinping to help him win 2020’s re-election”. Many of the allegations are based on private conversations and are impossible to verify. The Trump administration has pushed back against Mr. Bolton, with the president saying the book was “made up of lies and fake stories”.
The new work – The Room Where It Happened – is due to go on sale on 23 June. In it, John Bolton paints a picture of a president whose decision-making was dominated by a desire to win the presidency again.
