The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended a 30-year-old woman, Sama Parveen, in Bengaluru for her alleged association with the terrorist group Al Qaeda, officials confirmed on 30 July 2025.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Gujarat ATS, Sunil Joshi, stated that the arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation involving individuals suspected of ties to Al Qaeda. Parveen’s detention follows the earlier arrest of three others believed to be part of the same network.
The recent arrest comes just days after the Gujarat ATS detained four individuals on 23 July 2025; all allegedly connected to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) a designated terrorist organization aligned with the larger Al Qaeda network.
The four previously arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Mohd Faiq from Delhi
- Mohd Fardeen from Ahmedabad
- Sefullah Kureshi from Modasa in Gujarat’s Aravalli district
- Zeeshan Ali from Noida, Uttar Pradesh
DIG Joshi noted that all the accused had been under close surveillance based on specific intelligence inputs suggesting links to AQIS. He confirmed that the ATS operation was strategically planned and executed through coordinated monitoring.
Authorities have not yet released further information on Parveen’s specific role or how she is connected to the wider network. Investigations are ongoing, and more details are expected in the coming days.
