“Get The Application, We’ll Give It To Them After Elections”: DMK Minister EV Velu Assures Women Who Complained Of Not Getting ₹1000 Monthly

During a visit to a local village in Vikravandi Assembly constituency, DMK minister E.V. Velu faced criticism and controversy over the implementation of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, a women’s entitlement scheme. The scheme promises ₹1,000 monthly to eligible women, but many villagers expressed dissatisfaction saying that they did not receive the money.

As Minister E.V. Velu interacted with a group of women, he inquired whether they had been receiving the promised ₹1,000. The women present responded negatively, to which the minister instructed his team to collect applications from those who had not received the funds, assuring them that the issue would be addressed in time after the elections.

One woman boldly questioned the delay, asking why they had not yet received their entitlements. “Are the people who got it my relatives and those who didn’t are not?” he quipped, trivializing the woman’s genuine concern. The minister further shifted the blame onto the women, accusing them of not properly filling out the necessary applications.
