Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will launch the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan on Saturday to boost livelihood opportunities in rural India. This will be done through video conferencing in the presence of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
The campaign which targets to provide livelihood opportunities to the returnee migrant workers and rural citizens will be launched from Terihar village at Baldaur Block in Khagaria district of Bihar. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while briefing media about the scheme said, “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana with an outlay of 50 thousand crore rupees will cover 116 districts in six states Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan.
She further said, “Workers from all over the country wanted to go to their villages during the lockdown. The government has looked down on which states they have largely returned. The Centre and States governments have diligently mapped the skill sets of the migrant workers who have returned in large numbers to the 116 districts. Everyone who needs work will be given tasks under the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan. There will be 25 different types of works to provide the employment to the migrant workers and create infrastructure in the rural areas.
She further said, “Nearly 25 schemes of the Central Government are brought under Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan for 116 districts across 6 states. The objective of these schemes will be achieved within 125 days, by offering work to the migrant workers and rural citizens.
