Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman, Andy Cohen And Other Celebrities Express Solidarity With Israel

Hollywood celebrities are expressing their solidarity with Israel following a surprise assault by Hamas over the weekend. During this attack, thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 900 individuals and the abduction of over 100 innocent civilians.

The assault, which occurred early on a Saturday during Shabbat and coincided with the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, is being likened to “Israel’s 9/11” and stands as the deadliest day the country has witnessed in half a century. Among the horrifying events, Hamas perpetrated a mass killing at a music festival, where Israeli rescue teams have discovered 260 casualties.

This grim day marks the largest loss of Jewish lives in a single day since the Holocaust, with nine American citizens among the rising death toll.

During the weekend, President Joe Biden strongly denounced the terrorist attack and expressed his support for Israel’s right to self-defense. In a statement, he firmly condemned the reprehensible assault on Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, emphasizing that the United States is prepared to provide any necessary assistance to the Israeli government and its people. The president also reiterated that terrorism is never justified and reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security.

On Monday, Israel imposed a comprehensive blockade on Gaza, which resulted in the suspension of electricity, food, and water supplies to the area. In response to the Hamas attack, Israel has carried out airstrikes that have led to the deaths of more than 500 Palestinians.

Now, several prominent Hollywood celebrities, including Gal Gadot, Madonna, Natalie Portman, Andy Cohen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Debra Messing, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Kris Jenner, and Meghan McCain, have used their social media platforms to express their solidarity with Israel. They are standing alongside Israel during this time of crisis.

“I stand with Israel you should too,” Gadot posted. The “Wonder Woman” star, who is Israeli, has been posting daily about Israel being under attack. “The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!”

On Sunday, October 8 evening, U2 changed which is one of the most famous and popular rock band in the world changed the lyrics during a performance in Las Vegas to honor those murdered in Israel. “In the light of what’s happened in Israel and Gaza, a song about non-violence seems somewhat ridiculous, even laughable, but our prayers have always been for peace and for non-violence,” the band posted. “But our hearts and our anger, you know where that’s pointed. So sing with us… and those beautiful kids at that music festival.”

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, who is Jewish, posted: “My heart is shattered for the people of Israel. Children, women and the elderly have been murdered and abducted from their own homes. I am in horror at these barbaric acts and my heart is pounding with love and prayer for the families of all affected.”

Madonna who is one of the biggest pop star in the world posted a video on her Instagram showing footage of rockets being fired at Israel and the dead bodies of innocent civilians on the streets of Israel. She posted a lengthy statement, writing, in part: “Watching all of these families and especially children being herded, assaulted and murdered in the streets is Heartbreaking. Imagine if this was happening to you??” She continued, “My heart goes out to Israel. To Families and Homes that have been destroyed. To children who are lost. To Innocent Victims who have Been Killed. To All who are Suffering or who will suffer from this conflict. Im Praying For you. I am aware that this is the work of Hamas and there are many innocent people in Palestine who do not support this terrorist organization. This Tragic attack will only cause more suffering for everyone.”

Even the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball MLB have given their full support by posting statements from the leagues’ official accounts to condemn terrorism and mourn the loss of lives in Israel.

Meanwhile, top Bollywood celebrities who frequently travel to the West to give stage shows and shoot films have remained mum on this bloody cataclysmic event. Only actor and activist Swara Bhaskar has given her tacit support to Hamas.
