Veteran BJP leader K.N. Lakshmanan who served as the Member of Legislative Assembly for Mylapore during the year 2001 – 2006 passed away on June 1 due to age related ailments. He was 92.
Mr. Lakshmanan served as the President of BJP Tamil Nadu twice. He was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and recalled his role during the Emergency period. He had recently, interacted with the veteran leader over phone on April 21 and had inquired about his health.
Mr. Lakshman passed away at his residence in Sevvaipettai in Salem. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundarrajan had condoled his death recalling his simple and disciplined life.
DMK President M.K. Stalin too conveyed his condolences.
