Former BJP MLA faces backlash over assault of religious preacher

Former BJP MLA Pabubha Manek has tried to attack Ram Katha preacher Morari Bapu, at a temple in Dwarka. It was reported that Manek was triggered by Bapu’s comments on Lord Krishna. This took place on Thursday at the Dwarkadhish temple.

According to sources, Manek had reached the VIP portion of the temple when Bapu had been addressing Poonam Maadam, a BJP MLA for Jamnagar. When the latter was about to address the media, Manek ambushed the gathering. However, Poonam intervened and took Manek away before he could harm Morari Bapu.

This incident was caught on various TV cameras and has gone viral ever since. However, Manek claimed later that he had no intention to attack the spiritual leader and that his body language was misunderstood. According to Manek, Morari Bapu recently said in a statement that Lord Krishna failed to establish Dharma in his own city of Dwarka. He had later tendered an apology.

Notably, Bapu had gone to Dwarka to apologise for his controversial remarks against Lord Krishna that he had made in 2017. In order to keep with people’s sentiments, Morari had agreed to visit the Devbhoomi Dwarka temple to pay obeisance to the deity, in the presence of MLAs like Poonam Maadam.
