FIR Filed Against Polimer News Journalist Who Covered Narcotics Raids; TN BJP Head Annamalai Condemns

A series of events unfolded in Tamil Nadu related to the Narcotics Control Bureau’s search operation at various locations connected to Jaffar Sadiq. The focus was particularly on the Sahara Express courier office, reportedly owned by DMK’s West Chennai secretary, Chitrarasu. When this information reached Polimer News, a news reporter accompanied by cameraman Senthil Kumar, rushed to cover the story.

Upon their arrival, individuals affiliated with DMK allegedly confined the news reporter to a room and subjected him to severe physical assault. Subsequently, Senthil Kumar was hospitalized at Royapettah GH. The plot took an unexpected turn when Senthil Kumar filed a complaint against the DMK individuals who attacked him. Surprisingly, the police declined to register the case, and instead, a 55-year-old woman initiated legal proceedings against Senthil Kumar, accusing him of inappropriate conduct during the raid. This development left the journalist community in shock.

In response, several journalists expressed solidarity by staging a protest at the Chennai Commissioner’s office.

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai strongly criticized the state police for seemingly favoring the ruling DMK government instead of ensuring justice. He condemned “Yesterday, the National Narcotics Control Commission raided the Sahara Courier Company, owned by DMK Chennai West District Secretary Chitarasu in relation to international drug trafficking, and the @polimernews journalist Mr. Senthil Kumar who went to collect news, was locked in a room and severely beaten by the DMK.”

After this, the police did not take any action on his complaint, have now made a false complaint against Mr. Senthil Kumar by a 55-year-old woman and lodged a First Information Report against him, is highly condemn-able. It is not only very unfortunate that the Tamil Nadu Police are acting on the DMK’s advice, but also against their work ethic. The police should act according to the law and not as a wing of the DMK. Immediately, the fake First Information Report registered against Mr. Senthil Kumar should be cancelled, and I insist that the DMK thugs who attacked Senthil Kumar should be immediately arrested.”

Following the outcry, the police eventually registered an FIR against DMK functionary Kalaichelvan, a close aide of DMK’s West Chennai secretary Chitrarasu, who was subsequently arrested for his alleged involvement in attacking Polimer TV Cameraperson Senthil Kumar.
