Fans of Vijay Sethupathi Put Up Posters Against North Indians Ahead Of His Hindi Films And Series Release

A fan club allegedly affiliated with Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has posted racist and xenophobic wall posters throughout Madurai district, urging native Tamil Nadu people to boycott North Indians.

The poster reads,”Danger… Is this Tamil Nadu or North India? Wake up now Tamils. Are we giving up our future to North Indians?”

The poster was pasted with the hashtag #BoycottVadakkans, which means boycott North Indians. The alleged posters were pasted by actor Vijay Sethupathi’s fan club named All India Sanguthevan Vijay Sethupathi Fan Club.

This Vijay Sethupathi fans posters come at a time when there is an orchestrated racist campaign against North Indians by Dravidian Stockists, Naam Tamilar cadres, and certain famous Youtube channels like ‘Paridhabangal’ who use racist slurs like ‘Vadakkans,’ ‘Paani Poori Vaayans,’ ‘Paanparak Vaayans,’ and others to abuse North Indians.

After the image of anti-North Indian posters went viral in social media, many netizens questioned Sethupathi fans who had pasted anti-North Indian posters, given that their favorite actor is now appearing in a slew of North Indian Hindi films such as Mumbaikar, Jawan, and Merry Christmas. In addition, Vijay Sethupathi’s new Hindi web series Farzi, in which he co-stars with Shahid Kapoor, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime OTT on February 10.
