The Dravidian ecosystem recently held a closed-door meeting under the pretext of “opposing caste,” but in reality, the event turned into a platform for mocking and criticising Hinduism, its practices, and Hindu gods. Some speakers, like Karu Palaniappan, went so far as to audaciously declare the “need to annihilate Hinduism” in guise of quoting others, while shamelessly spreading the blatant lie that Ambedkar urged people to convert to Islam when he infact wrote a scathing book criticizing Islam.
This entire programme by The Debate was nothing but a propaganda session against Hinduism, with only a select audience present.
Right at the start of his speech, Karu Palaniappan plunged into his anti-Hindu stance, saying, “When asked what was the way to abolish caste, Vanniyararasu answered Ameer’s question by saying, ‘The answer to this is the same one given by the revolutionary Ambedkar: ‘Annihilation of Caste’.’ He said that the way to abolish caste is to abolish the Hindu religion (peddled his own translation). There is another way. What is that way? It is to fully support inter-caste marriages that happen within Hinduism. If you support them, what will happen? Will caste be abolished? Caste will not be abolished, it will create confusion. So, for clarity to come, confusion is needed. Once there is confusion, clarity will come.” He then went off into a rambling and irrelevant family anecdote that even he likely couldn’t make sense of.
Later in the video while Karu Palaniappan was speaking, he asked the audience, “Why is the Varalakshmi function celebrated?” A Dravidianist journalist Nelson Xavier mockingly replied, “For Varalakshmi to be well,” prompting laughter from another D-Stock anchor, Avudaiappan and Islamist filmmaker Ameer Sultan who is involved in a drug case. The two exchanged chuckles, triggering laughter across the hall. These two are presented as “neutral” journalists in Tamil media, holding prominent positions.

In another segment of the event, Karu Palaniappan again peddled the falsehood that Ambedkar wanted people to convert to Islam, here to cleverly quoting others conveniently hiding the fact that Ambedkar himself rejected Islam and embraced Buddhism.
He said, “If you want to abolish the filth of caste, what is the way? Like Vanniyarasu said, the revolutionary Ambedkar says the way is to convert to Islam. Periyar says it, everyone says it, right? But I will not convert. I will cause a commotion from within. Why should I leave? I will stay inside and do it.”
