Dravidian Model Anganwadi – Spelling Mistakes Galore On Education Murals In Newly Inaugurated Building At Karur

Dravidian Model Anganwadi - Spelling Mistakes Galore On Education Murals In Newly Inaugurated Building At Karur

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, an Anganwadi building was inaugurated in Karur district’s Kulithalai Union in Ayyarmalai. However, what caught people’s eye was the spelling mistakes in the text written on the walls of the centre.

It is noteworthy that this building was built at a cost of Rs 12 lakhs and inaugurated by Kulithalai MLA Manickam. The drawings and text on the walls of the Anganwadi were intended to encourage toddlers to read and understand. However, there were one too many errors in the spelling of the text, shocking the people who had come by.

Children come to the Anganwadi to learn the basics of the Tamil language but if they study here, their future seems to be very bleak. The text on the walls included names of national leaders, names of the Tamil months, and names of fruits, and were all error-ridden.

These mistakes were not limited to Tamil words. They were also seen in English words, making one question the level of education of the people who had done the artwork.

To top all this, the Karur Anganwadi opened on Gandhi Jayanti and even got Mahatma Gandhi’s name wrong in Tamil! However, the Regional Development Officer of Kulithalai, Jayakumar, Kulithalai District Nutrition Officer Vinothini, who participated in the inauguration programme, and MLA Manickam did not notice these errors and seemed to be busy taking photographs.
