Double Murder In Tamil Nadu: "Lawless Jungle", Says BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slamming DMK For Growing Lawlessness In State

The day saw a double murder occur in broad daylight in Tamil Nadu, bringing back the question of the state of law and order here.

On 20 November 2024 morning, a tragic event unfolded at a government school in Mallipattinam, Thanjavur district, where a female teacher was brutally murdered.

According to police reports, 26-year-old Ramani from Chinnamanai village had been working as a temporary Tamil teacher for grades 6 to 9 for the past five months. The incident occurred near the staff room while Ramani was conversing with S. Madan, a 30-year-old man from her village. During their discussion, a dispute escalated, and Madan allegedly stabbed Ramani multiple times in the neck and abdomen in front of her colleagues.

As Ramani lost consciousness, Madan attempted to flee but was quickly detained by the school staff. The severely injured teacher was rushed to Pattukkottai Government Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Rawat and his team arrived at the scene to conduct investigations. Initial findings suggest that Ramani and Madan were in a relationship, but her family opposed their marriage despite both being from the same community. Police reports indicate that Ramani had informed Madan she could not go against her family’s wishes, which allegedly led to Madan attacking her in a fit of rage. The Sethubavachathiram police have registered a murder case, and further investigations are ongoing.

In another horrifying incident, on the afternoon of 20 November 2024, a violent attack occurred within the premises of the combined court building in Hosur, where a 39-year-old man assaulted a 30-year-old advocate.

The victim, Kannan from Hosur, is a junior advocate working under another lawyer, Sathya Narayanan. He had a longstanding dispute with Anandakumar, a 39-year-old resident of Hosur. During the incident on today afternoon, Anandakumar attacked Kannan within the court premises. Kannan was swiftly taken to a private hospital in Hosur, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Police reports indicate that Anandakumar later surrendered at the Hosur Judicial Magistrate Court – II. The Hosur town police are actively investigating the case.

BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slams DMK Govt For Lawlessness In State

Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has criticized the ruling DMK and Chief Minister MK Stalin for the worsening law and order situation in the state. He pointed to a series of brazen daylight murders in various districts, such as the killing of a teacher in Tanjore and the brutal attack on a junior advocate in Hosur. Annamalai condemned the state’s growing lawlessness, describing it as a “lawless jungle.”

In a statement posted on his official X account on 20 November 2024, Annamalai said, “A teacher was murdered in the classroom today in Tanjore & here is an advocate being brutally attacked in broad daylight in Hosur. These reflect the disastrous law & order situation in TN under the DMK Govt. Thiru @mkstalin should be ashamed of turning TN into a lawless jungle. If this Govt put little effort into fixing issues rather than diverting them, we would not see such lawlessness.”
