“Don’t Go To Temples, Go To Theatre”, Says Director Mysskin; Netizens Ask If He Has The Guts To Say For Churches & Mosques

Director and actor Mysskin’s recent speech at the audio launch of the film ‘The Proof’ has stirred controversy on social media platforms. Mysskin’s remarks urging people to prioritize watching films over visiting temples have drawn severe criticism online.

Mysskin made a derisive remark about Hindu beliefs under the guise of encouraging more people to visit movie theaters, He said, “Select and watch a film. Cinema is a donation that you offer, donot stop the offering. Many people are watching films sitting at home. How can you watch a film in your house? Will you watch the film while cutting onions at home or by scolding your husband or will you watch by scolding your wife?”

Later addressing the audience at the audio launch, Mysskin stated, “Don’t go to the temple, go to the theater. If 5 people in a family don’t go and watch a movie, it’s not a family. Wear a new dress, wear perfume, go to theatre in a car and buy popcorn and watch the film like that.” He continued, “Who among us knows Shiva? We know only our Sivaji as Shiva. I don’t know we ever will see shiva, but have seen shiva in Thiruvilayadal.” Implying theat he have encountered Shiva in performances of Shivaji Ganesan, and concluded the temple offers no reward,  However, in the theater, you can delight in laughter and experience the full spectrum of emotions, from tears to jubilation, while watching moving films.

Netizens have vehemently criticized Mysskin for portraying himself as an all-knowing director in the film industry. Despite his recent string of directorial flops, he has taken on acting roles in consecutive films as Maveeran and Leo. The latest film, “Devil,” directed by his younger brother and featuring music by Mysskin, failed to meet expectations this year. Consequently, he seems intent on generating controversy through negative publicity. Netizens mocked Mysskin, instead of giving speeches, he should prioritize and focus on directing quality films other than singling out Hinduism for criticism without addressing other faiths.
