In an amusing incident, some of the notable personalities like US President Donald Trump, Tamil pop-culture icon Soona Paana and even the dead Al-Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden seem to have joined the DMK.
The DMK for the first time had launched the online membership drive on September 15, the birth anniversary of founder of the party CN Annadurai.
On September 18, MK Stalin declared that more than 1 lakh people had become members through the online membership drive.

However, the credibility of these numbers has taken a hit with these spurious entries.
The membership card with the ID DMKOMCH0161464069 mentions Donald Trump, son of Fred Trump belonging to the ‘Egmore’ constituency.
Soona Paana (59), son of ‘Thigil Paandi’ belonging to the Kolathur Assembly constituency has received a membership card. Kolathur is the constituency from which MK Stalin has been elected MLA.
A membership card also has been issued to the dreaded Al-Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden who was neutralized by the US.
To become a member, one has to enter their mobile number to receive OTP and fill in basic details like the constituency to which one belongs along with some personal details.
The website currently claims that 1,90,255 members have joined with 35214 people joining today (September 20).
