DMK Spokesperson S Dharanidharan found himself perplexed and speechless during a debate on Times Now recently.
Dharanidharan claimed the ED was an arm of the BJP. To this, BJP spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla who was also part of the panel replied, “Mr Dharanidharan just said that the ED is an extension of the Modi government. Right now, just about one hour ago, former DMK minister P Palaniswami’s son, a DMK functionary Pynthamil Pari, was raided by Karnataka Lokayukta for illegal mining. Is the Karnataka Lokayukta an extension of the Congress-run Karnataka government?”

A tongue-tied Dharanidharan replies, “See firstly, you’ll have to understand the most corrupt party in the world is the BJP. BJP is the one which legalised corruption by electoral bonds. When countries across the world are banning corporate donations,….”
Shehzad interrupts Dharanidharan asking if the raid is okay. Dharanidharan continued to speak irrelevantly by mentioning the CAG audits. Shehzad continues asking him, “Is the Karnataka Lokayukta an extension of the Karnataka government?” To which, Dharanidharan replied, “That is a different issue”.
It is noteworthy that the several ministers of the DMK have been accused of corruption. Senthilbalaji who continues to be a Minister without portfolio continues to be under arrest for his involvement in the cash-for-jobs scam. Spokespersons such as Dharanidharan are often left flummoxed when it comes to responding to questions that show them the mirror.
