DMK Propaganda Outlet Puthiya Thalaimurai Glorifies Stalin, Reduces Vijay’s Groundbreaking Ceremony To ‘Shovelling Earth’

Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai has openly shown its loyalty to the DMK once again. This can be seen in the contrast over the way it presented two similar government groundbreaking ceremonies involving former Chief Minister MK Stalin and incumbent Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

A comparison of the channel’s posters for the two events shows the difference in the prominence given to the projects, their investments and the chief ministers who presided over the ceremonies.

For MK Stalin, let us look at the wording.

On 28 September 2024, when Stalin laid the foundation stone for Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover car manufacturing plant at Panapakkam in Ranipet district, Puthiya Thalaimurai carried a detailed poster highlighting the scale of the investments and the projects being launched.

The caption read, “Vehicle manufacturing plant – Chief Minister lays foundation stone”

The poster prominently featured the Tata Motors branding and the tagline Connecting Aspirations, alongside the announcement that Stalin had laid the foundation stone for the vehicle manufacturing plant. The accompanying description stated that the facility would be established across 470 acres at an investment of Rs 9,000 crore.

However, the channel’s presentation of a groundbreaking ceremony presided over by Chief Minister Vijay on October 14, 2026, appeared markedly different.

The poster for Vijay’s event focused on a pipeline project and carried the caption, “Foundation stone-laying ceremony for pipeline project: Chief Minister Vijay shovels earth”

This just crudely describes the action instead of explaining what the groundbreaking was for.

This difference in captioning once again exposes Puthiya Thalaimurai as a DMK propaganda channel no less.

Despite the DMK not being in power, the same channel continues displaying its loyalty to the former ruling party.

The X handle of Puthiya Thalaimurai seemed to have deleted the two posts after this issue went viral.

In another instance, when the Madras High Court questioned former DMK minister Anbil Mahesh regarding the ‘party fund’ collection from private school operators, the judge had slammed them for invoking the Governor.

Instead of calling out the DMK’s duplicity, the Puthiya Thalaimurai channel very pervertedly added the image of the judge to show he belonged to a specific community – once again wagging its Dravidianist tail.

A news channel cannot claim to be a neutral observer while repeatedly appearing to extend more favourable treatment to one political camp. Puthiya Thalaimurai’s coverage looks like DMK propaganda peddling more like an extension of the Dravidianist political propaganda machinery.
