22 year old Robin, who is a member of the DMK, was arrested on Friday on account of sexually harassing a teenage girl. He is the son of Muniyaandi from Indira Nagar in Chengalpattu, who is also a DMK member.
Robin has been arrested because he had kidnapped a 16 year old girl in his two wheeler on Thursday while she was going back home from school. He had then proceeded to sexually harass her in the store room of a shop near a private engineering college in Padaalam, near Chinnakolapakkam.
Following this incident, the victim’s mother had filed a complaint against him at the All Women’s Police Station in Chengelpet. The local police went on to file an FIR against him under the POCSO Act. They arrested Robin on Friday, and proceeded to confiscate his two wheeler which was used for kidnapping.
Robin was put to trial at the district court on Friday and the judge, who found him guilty, pronounced him to be guilty and sentenced him with prison. He was then sent to the district jail.
