A DMK Panchayat President from Nagapattinam was arrested and charged with Goondas Act in a case involving the murder of a AIADMK member who is a financier.
On August 17, 2022, TVR Manohar, a financier from Velankanni town in Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam district, was hacked to death by three persons.
The incident from Velankanni area of the Nagapattinam district was caught on CCTV footage. The horrifying CCTV footage showed three individuals going into the victim Manohar’s workplace and assaulting and stabbing him with what appear to be sharp instruments. Manohar unfortunately died on the spot.
On August 22, four persons involved in the murder of a financier in Velankanni surrendered before the Tiruvaiyaru court. They were brought to Trichy Central Prison and placed in judicial custody. The four persons were identified as P Mathiazhagan (35) from Poigai Nallur, N Vijay (26), N Ramesh Kumar alias Settu Ramesh (40) and R Arularasan (22). Police detained 10 more people in connection with the incident after conducting a preliminary investigation. Maheswaran, a 42-year-old DMK member, who is the master mind of the murder and South Poigainallur panchayat president, was imprisoned and slapped with Goondas Act as per the recommendation of SP Jawahar.
