DMK MP A. Raja, a habitual Hindu-baiter (particularly Brahmins), who is known for his foul-mouthed speeches and below the belt remarks has once again unleashed venom against his political and ideological opponents.
A Raja who spoke at an event honouring MK Stalin and TR Balu, insulted Hinduism, Brahmins, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and deceased AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa.
DMK MP A Raja said, “350 BJP MPs in Parliament were wearing saffron shawls and screaming ‘Modi.. Modi..Modi… However, when we 39 DMK MPs entered the parliament wearing black shirts, they became silent. It is we who have the courage to yell “Modi down and Adani down” in Parliament. You should have seen Modi’s expression back then. Delhi (BJP) is terrified of what TR Baalu will ask in parliament.”
Taking a dig at the position of Congress in the current political scenario, A Raja said that it is DMK which decides what Congress has to do in the PParliament. “I am not underestimating anyone,” A Raja said mocking Congress. He went on to say that the entire North Indian leaders are asking DMK leader MK Stalin to lead them because they have no one else to turn to.
He added that statues were erected for Vallabhai Patel because, while serving on constitutional sub-committees on Minorities and Scheduled Castes, he opposed reservations for Christians, Muslims, and Scheduled Castes, and that it was only because of Ambedkar that the reservation was restored.
He also went on to hail TR Baalu saying “We did not witness the freedom struggle and only read about it in books. However, our leader, TR Baalu, was imprisoned during what is known as the second freedom struggle, the Emergency declared by Indhira Gandhi. We cannot rewrite history as we are currently in alliance with Congress.”
According to A Raja, people are using a new technique to determine the caste of others even while travelling in public bus. “They use the elimation method to determine caste. They begin by asking if you are related to Tambaram Raja. If we say no, they will conclude that we do not belong to the Reddy caste. They will eliminate the Thevar caste if we say we don’t know TR Baalu,” he explained.
This is a self-serving goal by A Raja, as his claim that people are using new techniques to find caste contradicts the DMK and its leaders’ claim that Periyar, the Dravidar Kazhagam leader, has eliminated caste in Tamil Nadu. Quoting Ambedkar, he said that the caste in inculcated in their (casteist) mind. A Raja who claims that casteists are inventing new ways to determine caste should be shown a video of MK Stalin in which he determined the caste of an old man to be ‘Gowda’ as soon as he stated that he was from Hosur.
When தத்தி #Stalin has so much knowledge on Gowda caste ppl are the majority in Hosur region.Just think abt the knowledge #Karunanidhi had indepth based on Castes & communities throughout Tamilnadu! Dravidam a fake ideology! #திருட்டுதிமுக #சாதிவெறி_திமுக #பெரியாரவது_மயிராவது pic.twitter.com/8vLWERPi6j

He added, “Except for DMK Chief Minister MK Stalin, no Chief Ministers such as Mamta Banneerjee, Jagan Mohan Reddy, KCR, or Naveen Patnaik have suffered in jail during the Emergency. TR Baalu and I started from the grass root level and have worked our way up to a good position in the party. This does not occur in any other party. For example, Edappadi Palaniswami became Chief Minister after falling at Sasikala’s feet. People fall at God’s feet but nothing happens, but falling at Sasikala’s feet results in Edappadi becoming Chief Minister. MK Stalin rose through the ranks of the party and the government from the ground up.”
A Raja stated that he began as a union level party official and has now risen through the ranks to become deputy general secretary. He claimed that the same was true of MK Stalin, who rose to become the leader of the party. He should be joking when he claims that cadres in the DMK party rise through hard work and there is no nepotism. MK Stalin, a product of nepotism himself, has promoted his son to Minister of Sports and is now grooming him for a future Chief Ministerial berth. Belonging to such a party and accusing others of nepotism reveals the extent to which cognition has taken a backseat.
A Raja should remember that MK Stalin rose through the ranks not because he was arrested during the Emergency, but because he is the son of M Karunanidhi, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, political critics continue to question whether MK Stalin was arrested under MISA or during MISA, as MK Stalin or the DMK has not produced the detention copy or any other proof of MK Stalin being arrested under MISA.
He said, “People have asked us why we are spending ₹80 crore on a pen statue for Karunanidhi. It is this pen that gave free electricity to agricultural motors of Edappadi Palaniswami and Kongu Vellaala Gounder community, a developed community with land holdings.”
It is clearly an attempt of A Raja to appease the Kongu Vellalar community, to which EPS belongs, after earning the community’s wrath during the 2021 election campaign by calling EPS an illegitimate child. Also will A Raja dare to remove the Kongu Vellalar community from the backward class and give that reservation to a real disadvantageous community, as he himself claimed that Kongu Vellalar community is more developed?
“It is this pen that gave equal rights in properties for women,” A Raja said. But he scored another self-goal by claiming that he has no idea whether the law is being followed correctly. A Raja said, “When then PM Nehru attempted to support Ambedkar’s bill to give equal rights to women in properties, Maha Periyavaal (with a sly jibe against Brahmins) from Tamil Nadu warned that if women were given property rights, they would engage in extramarital affairs and elope with other men after marriage. Maha Periyava said that equal rights to woman is against Hindu Dharma.” A Raja attempted to mock Brahmins by speaking in their slang.
A Raja also stated that the judiciary throughout India, including Tamil Nadu, is being saffronized, with an indirect reference to Justice GR Swaminathan of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. However, A Raja has no objections to DMK and Left leaders becoming High Court and Supreme Court judges. Before becoming a judge, several High Court judges were office bearers of parties other than the BJP. A Raja who seemed unconcerned about this, have concerns about Saffronization of Judiciary.
A Raja also accused Hinduism and Brahmins of imposing the “Kutraparamparai” (Criminal Tribes) Act on several castes in South India. However, A Raja should be reminded that it was the British who enacted the law requiring people of a certain caste to sign in at the police station. A Raja purposefully blamed Hindu religion and Brahmins for the British act.
A Raja spoke the truth in a flow, saying that four government doctors in his family did not report for duty during the COVID period, and when he asked why, they said they were not concerned about peoples lives and wanted to save their lives.
Abusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, A Raja called him a “Pandaram, Paradesi”.
“Do you know how many people are Below Poverty Line, in Uttar Pradesh, where you’ve built a temple for Ramar? You’ve built a Ram Temple there. A ‘Pandaaram’, ‘Paradesi’ is a Chief Minsiter there.”, the DMK leader abused the UP CM.
Pandaaram is a most backward community (MBC) in Tamil Nadu whose members were once priests of non-Agama temples. However, the term has over the years become a slur.
Paradesi literally means a person from another country but it has also become a slur.
“Uttar Pradesh, where you’ve a ‘Pandaram’, ‘Paradesi’ as a Chief Minister and a Ram temple built, the number of people below poverty line is 27%.”, he said.
He also insulted former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa by asking the AIADMK leaders if they would describe Jayalalithaa as a “Kollaikaari” (robber) in her tombstone.
“If we shouldn’t spend 80 crore for this pen statue, you’ve kept a memorial for your aatha (colloquial way of referring one’s mother) for your ngomma (colloquial but an abusive way to refer to one’s mother). Whose money is that? That too is around 60 crore or 70 crore. What did she sign? What are her achievements?”, he said.
Citing the Supreme Court, he said that Jayalalithaa is a woman robber who murdered the Constitution.
“If you’re opposing the pen statue for a person who has signed for so many things, you’ve kept a memorial for your ngomma. If you have the honesty and guts, what should you write? Write the Supreme Court judgement. Write ‘Our Amma, the robber who murdered the Constitution is resting here’.”, A Raja said.
Speaking about the Adani issue, Raja said “Can the Prime Minister tell this – ‘There are allegations on Adani. It was said by an American firm. We’re investigating. We’re forming a committee to investigate. In that, Raja will be there, or Baalu will be there. Someone from DMK be there. I am not afraid. I am not a thief. I don’t have anything to hide. Let’s make the Parliament work.’ – do you hav the guts to say this? Do you know what the Hindenberg report says? Stock manipulation and accounting fraud. What Adani did was stock manipulation where you artificially manipulate stock prices to go up. Accounting fraud means there is fraud in balance sheet. Who took Adani? Who went together in the same flight having meals?”
Calling Prime Minister Modi a fraud, Raja said “If Adani is a fraud, then you, who took him everywhere and now remaining mute, are also a fraud. I challenge. If I say this, they are putting case against me. Put me behind bars now. I am brother of Kalaignar and Stalin.”
This abusive speech was made by the DMK MP a week ago at Tambaram at a public meeting organized by Perungalathur North DMK unit to commemorate Stalin’s 70th birthday. DMK MP TR Baalu was also on stage enjoying Raja’s speech.
While the video of his problematic speech is present in DMK-friendly YouTube channels, it has barely made news with none of the mainstream Dravidian Stockist media questioning the unparliamentary language of the DMK MP. Only senior Tamil journalist Rangaraj Pandey on his YouTube channel Chanakyaa has spoken about the matter.
It is noteworthy to mention that DMK MP A Raja’s comments on CM Yogi Adityanath has the potential to invite a defamation suit similar to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Modi Surname’ case.
