DMK MP A. Raja launched a sharp attack on the Chief Minister and his ministers over the controversy surrounding alleged remarks about “party fund,” questioning why the government had failed to identify which political party it was referring to.
Referring to the issue, Raja said, “Did he ask? Apparently, he did ask in the Secretariat. He said, ‘I said party fund.’ They are running away.”
Questioning the government’s stand, Raja remarked, “Should I call him a fool, an idiot, a liar, or a lunatic? I don’t understand. You are saying party fund. The Leader of the Opposition says, ‘You said party fund, so which party took it? What is the evidence?’ He is asking, but you are saying they ran away scared.”
He argued that once the term “party fund” had been used, the government had a responsibility to specify which party it was referring to.
“Since you said party fund, you must say which party, which fund,” Raja said, adding that the Leader of the Opposition had maintained it was the Chief Minister’s responsibility to answer the question.
Continuing his criticism of the Chief Minister, Raja said, “This man kept quiet, he never opens his mouth. Whatever is given as script, he only reads that, he doesn’t know anything.”
He also took aim at another minister, saying, “That other boy, that smart aleck, he says, ‘We never mentioned the party name itself.’ Hey, aren’t you ashamed? Just tell which party it is. If you had mentioned the party and we left, then you are in the right. You don’t have the guts to say which party it is, you have no spine.”
Raja further alleged that the Opposition’s decision to walk out of the Assembly was justified.
“With a spineless Chief Minister and half-witted ministers, they left the Assembly since it was better to do that. Isn’t that the truth? Will you do anything you please? You say you ran because of party fund, Singapore,” he said.
