DMK MLA Sekar Babu Loses Cool After TVK MLA Vijay Dhamu Says "It's Boring" During Monsoon Meeting; Dhamu Denies Remark

A controversy erupted during a review meeting on monsoon preparedness at Chennai’s Ripon Building after former Tamil Nadu minister and DMK MLA Sekar Babu reportedly expressed displeasure over a remark that he claimed was made by TVK MLA Vijay Dhamu, as reported in OneIndia Tamil. However, Dhamu has denied making any such comment.

The meeting was held ahead of the expected onset of the northeast monsoon in Tamil Nadu, with officials and ministers discussing precautionary measures to tackle heavy rainfall and potential flooding in Chennai.

Sekar Babu Expresses Displeasure During Meeting

The meeting was attended by ministers Aadhav Arjuna, Vijay Balaji and Venkata Ramana, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, former minister and MLA Sekar Babu, and TVK MLA Vijay Dhamu, among others.

According to reports, Sekar Babu was speaking about monsoon preparedness when Vijay Dhamu allegedly remarked that he was getting bored. Sekar Babu reacted sharply, asking, “If you are getting bored, what can we do? Am I speaking unnecessarily? Then why did you invite me here?”

Minister Vijay Balaji was reportedly seen attempting to pacify Sekar Babu following the exchange.

Continuing his remarks, Sekar Babu said that he had not attended the meeting to make allegations against the government but to share his experience after being invited to do so.
He said, “We have not come here to make allegations. You invited us out of respect for democracy, and we came. We are sharing our experience.”

Pointing to his political experience, Sekar Babu said that he was a five-time MLA who had contested six elections in Chennai and had also participated in local body elections. He added that he had been engaged in politics since his younger days.

Sekar Babu further warned that the approaching cyclone could bring intense heat and strong winds, citing weather forecasts, and stressed that certain precautionary measures could help the city manage flooding.

Vijay Dhamu Denies Making the Remark

When questioned by reporters about whether he had told Sekar Babu that he was getting bored, Vijay Dhamu denied making the remark.

In a video interview shared on YouTube, Dhamu said that nothing of the sort had happened. He explained that Sekar Babu had been speaking for a long time and that the former minister had asked for some more time to continue his remarks.

Dhamu maintained that he had not made the alleged comment, disputing the account that triggered Sekar Babu’s angry response.
