SN Azim Raja, son of DMK Minister for Milk and Dairy Development Avadi Nassar, has been removed from the position of Avadi Corporation secretary of the DMK party. According to the local news daily, the minister’s son was running a parallel government in Avadi Corporation and influencing all government officials.
Avadi Corporation near Chennai was announced as the 15th Corporation in June 2019 by the previous ADMK government. Udayakumar of the Scheduled Tribe was elected as the first Mayor of this corporation, which has 48 wards, and Saraswati as the Corporation Commissioner.
However, Minister Nassar’s son Azim Raja has been acting as the corporation’s de facto Mayor, preventing the Scheduled Tribe Mayor from working. Minister Nasser, who helped his son win in the Avadi Corporation’s 4th Ward, attempted to make his son the Deputy Mayor of Avadi Corporation. However, his efforts were futile because MK Stalin did not want Nasser’s son to be deputy Mayor, which irritated Minister Nasser.
Enraged Minister Nasser has threatened all corporation officials, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Commissioner, that no files should be moved without the approval of his son Councilor Azim Raja.
Councillor Azim Raja had been running a parallel government with the support of the health inspector of Avadi corporation Jaffer who belongs to the same religion as the Minister Avadi Nasser. In this situation, the Avadi corporation was receiving an increasing number of complaints about the Minister and his son Azim Raja, who was preventing a Scheduled Tribe Mayor from working.
Taking cognizance of the growing public anger towards DMK as a result of DMK Minister Avadi Nasser’s son Azim Raja, the DMK has removed Azim Raja from the position of Avadi corporation secretary and appointed Prakash to the same position.
This DMK leadership action was not well received by DMK minister Nasser. According to reports, the DMK leadership was dissatisfied with DMK minister Nasser, who was in the news for all the wrong reasons, and this resulted in Azim Raja’s removal from the party’s post.
