DMK IT Wing Functionary Wishes For PM Modi’s Death Similar To Iranian President, Deletes Post And Apologizes Fearing Legal Action, Deletes That Post As Well

A senior member of the DMK IT Wing, Kasi Kuppusamy, has found himself at the center of a storm after a controversial social media post suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should meet the same fate as the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The post, which was quickly deleted, sparked widespread condemnation from the public and BJP supporters.

Kasi Kuppusamy, who serves as the Deputy Secretary of the DMK’s Coimbatore East IT Wing, made the comment in response to a post by Selva Kumar, Vice-President of the Tamil Nadu BJP Industrial Cell, regarding the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Raisi, along with several top officials, died in a helicopter crash at the Iran-Azerbaijan border on May 20th. Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences, and the Indian government observed a state mourning on May 21st.

Kasi Kuppusamy’s remark, “wish the Indian Prime Minister face same fate like as what has happened to Iranian President,” quickly went viral, leading to an outpouring of anger.

BJP supporters and the general public demanded severe action against Kasi Kuppusamy for his comment. His comment led to BJP supporters call for legal action similar to a recent incident involving a social media post against the Congress government in Karnataka.

The backlash prompted DMK supporter Dravida Podhuudamai to advise Kasi Kuppusamy to delete the post, “Modi is only our ideological enemy but not our genealogical enemy. Please delete it” posted Dravida Podhuudamai emphasizing that ideological opposition does not justify such remarks.

Following this advice, Kasi Kuppusamy deleted the post and issued an apology, stating, “I express my repentance if the post on Prime Minister hurt anyone’s feelings. I only motioned about the post of Prime Minister, not the individual.”

But he has now deleted this post.

It wasn’t just Kasi Kuppusamy; several DMK and I.N.D.I.A. alliance supporters also expressed similar sentiments towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their replies to BJP functionary Selva Kumar’s post.

For instance, DMK supporter Malik Murali Krishnan Ninniyapan remarked, “Similar thing is not happening here. A dog (Prime Minister Modi) is traveling on different flights daily.”

Another supporter, Usilampatti Ra Ko, posted, “If this is the fate of good people (Iranian President), then imagine the fate of our Ji (Prime Minister Modi). Only Allah can save him.”

Additionally, Saravanan, a DMK supporter, commented, “Good people are getting killed, but there is one fellow (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) who is traveling around in private planes and helicopters. Nothing is happening to that fellow.”

Although Kasi Kuppusamy deleted his post and apologized, BJP supporters demanded strict action against him for his remarks about the Prime Minister. They argued that the DMK government would not act against Kasi Kuppusamy, urging Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, or Gujarat police to step in and arrest him, similar to how Karnataka police arrested Bhiku Mhatre for his social media post against the Congress government.

BJP supporters claimed that while DMK authorities aggressively target BJP supporters for their social media posts criticizing the DMK, the Chief Minister, his family, and minorities, they show little interest in taking action against their own members with the same fervor. They believe DMK only acts on complaints from its IT wing functionaries and not against them, reflecting a biased approach.
