DMK Govt mentions Jan 26 & Aug 15 as Independence Day in official TN website, misspells ‘Independence’

The official website of Tamil Nadu government has mentioned both January 26 and August 15 as Independence Day.

The list of holidays for the year 2022 was published in the Tamil Nadu government website (www.tn.gov.in).

In the list, both January 26 and August 15 has been mentioned as Independence Day.

January 26 is Republic Day, the day when the Constitution of India came into force and the country became a democratic republic.

The word ‘Independence’ is also wrongly spelled in the website as ‘Independance’.

Netizens were quick to notice the mistake and have been taking jibes at the DMK and its Chief Minister MK Stalin.

An old video of MK Stalin getting confused over the dates of Independence Day and Republic Day is also being shared.
