Tension and criticism have emerged after a video surfaced showing a DMK councillor allegedly throwing ₹100 currency notes into a crowd during a temple procession in Ulundurpet.
According to visuals circulating on social media, the incident occurred when the temple deity’s chariot was being taken out in a ceremonial street procession. The councillor is seen repeatedly tossing bundles of cash into the air, leading devotees gathered at the venue to rush forward to collect the money.
Students and children were reportedly among those who attempted to grab the currency notes, resulting in moments of chaos within the crowd. Onlookers expressed concern that the act could have triggered an untoward incident, including the risk of a stampede or injuries amid the rush.
