Doctors at the Tenkasi Government District Headquarters Hospital have accused DMK District Panchayat Councillor Kanimozhi and her supporters of threatening a duty doctor over a financial dispute. According to the hospital staff, the Councillor wanted to transfer money via GPay and was pressured to provide ₹5,000 in cash. When the doctor refused, he was allegedly subjected to intimidation.

The medical team also alleged that Councillor Kanimozhi had insisted the money be handed over to an accident victim, allegedly to resolve or suppress an accident-related matter. In response to the situation, Hospital Superintendent Dr. R. Jesline stated that a formal police complaint would be lodged against the councillor.

The situation reportedly escalated when a heated exchange broke out. Kanimozhi, visibly agitated, was heard shouting “I will go to Ma Subramanian and complain directly. I will complain about everything. Tomorrow all will come. What are you thinking of yourself?”

A female police officer present at the scene attempted to calm things down, but the councillor continued shouting. She asserted that she had requested the money to be paid via GPay and was demanding a cash return. When her demand was resisted, the councillor reportedly lashed out again, claiming, “When they came to this hospital for the investigation, there were no doctors present. I will go to Ma Subramanian and complain directly. I will complain about everything.”

The incident has drawn attention to growing concerns among hospital staff over political interference and alleged misuse of power. The matter is expected to be investigated further following the superintendent’s statement about involving law enforcement.
