“You have to note. Today, we are living in Tamil Nadu. This incident has happened in the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh”, the DMK chief said.

He also said that if Uttar Pradesh stands first in the list of crimes against women, Tamil Nadu stood at the second place.

However, according to the National Crime Records Bureau statistics on Crime Against Women for 2017-2019, while Uttar Pradesh stood first, it was Rajasthan that came second in the list. Tamil Nadu stood far behind in the list.
