Members of the Tamil Nadu Shia Muslim Jamath, along with Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol Thirumavalavan and other alliance figures, organised the demonstration and tried to lay siege to the diplomatic facility. Police intervened and detained around 200 protesters, who were later accommodated in nearby community halls.

The march began near Royapettah Government Hospital and proceeded towards New College, with participants raising slogans against the United States and Israel and demanding an end to the conflict. In view of the protest, traffic along Peters Road was temporarily suspended, leading to brief disruptions in the area.

Security was tightened around the US Consulate, with more than 250 police personnel deployed to prevent any breach.

Speaking to reporters during the march, Thirumavalavan said many Tamils were working in Gulf countries and argued that India should not remain silent on the issue. He alleged that the actions of the United States and Israel were pushing the world towards a larger conflict.

At the protest venue, he further announced that the CPI, CPM and VCK would organise statewide demonstrations on 3 March 2026 in Chennai and other major cities across Tamil Nadu to condemn the US action.

Among others who participated in the protest were Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai leader Thaniyarasu, Mukkulathor Pulipadai party leader Karunas, and Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi leader Tamimun Ansari.

It is noteworthy that apart from VCK, the DMK’s allies include Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi (MJK), Mukkulathor Pulipadai, and the Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai .
