After Bloomsbury India issued a statement of withdrawal towards publishing the ‘Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story’ following backlash, Garuda Prakashan Publication has come forward to publish the book. It had released on its official Twitter handle, saying that it was happy to publish the book in both Hindi and English.
The book authored by Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra, had been withdrawn without notice by Bloomsbury India after an organized lobby descended on it for giving space to something that will break the Shaheenbagh propaganda. Following this, Garuda, a home-grown publishing start-up, had stepped forward to publish it. The authors said, in a statement, that they had not received any response from Bloomsbury to their email regarding the book. Bloomsbury had apparently informed the authors via phone that the book has been withdrawn, with no means of formal communication following that.
Responding to the announcement, Garuda Prakashan confirmed onboarding the authors and thanked them for putting their trust in them. “Friends! Thank you so much for your support. Let’s together make it reach every household. Truth must prevail”, they added.
Garuda Prakashan is a publishing house that is co-owned by Sankrant Sanu and Ankur Pathak. It is the same publication under which the book Urban Naxals was released.
