Reports have confirmed an explosion near the embassy of Israel in New Delhi on Friday evening.

According to the police, the blast happened near a pavement, causing damage to the windscreen and window panes of a few cars nearby. No casualties have been reported. Firefighters are already at the site of the explosion.

The explosion is believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The area in which the blast took place has been cordoned off. Investigations by police and intelligence officials are underway.

The blast comes mere days after violent riots by protesting farmers rocked the nation’s capital on January 26, Republic Day.
