The Congress party found itself at the center of a fresh controversy after sharing a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on 18 June 2025, that featured a map of Pakistan including Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) — a territory legally claimed by India. The post, intended to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, included the caption, “Narendra Modi has ruined the foreign policy”, alongside a video depicting the disputed map.
The use of the map sparked widespread outrage, with critics accusing Congress of promoting anti-national sentiments and aligning with Pakistani narratives. Many called it a serious lapse in judgment, alleging the party was indirectly endorsing Pakistan’s territorial claims. Following intense backlash from political opponents and the public alike, the Congress deleted the post without offering an immediate explanation.
The incident has added to the party’s recent struggles, with the BJP and other political voices demanding accountability and clarification over “highly irresponsible act.”
Some of the netizen reactions are as below:
Congress so obsessed with Pakistan, they started using their version of India’s map too. https://t.co/BPcRrfnKG9 pic.twitter.com/Z7stVxbUH7

In an official post, the Congress party has shamelessly used Pakistan’s map of Jammu & Kashmir. Let’s be clear — this is not an inadvertent error, it’s a premeditated act that reflects their long-standing mindset.
It was Jawaharlal Nehru’s grand plan to give away Jammu & Kashmir… pic.twitter.com/RpuEUqICVL

Official Congress handle has given PoK to Pakistan. This is not the 1st time Congress has done this.
Nehru first lost control of PoK, now Congress officially shows PoK under Pakistan.
Why so much hate for India?
Why Congress always runs Pakistani Propaganda? https://t.co/RxkNlIptxa pic.twitter.com/JGtk006L2B
