Congress Leaders Justify RaGa’s “Flying Kiss” In Parliament

Today is the first day in Parliament after suspension for Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi. Just as the news of the alleged flying kiss by reinstated MP broke, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee Spokesperson and General Secretary, Lakshmi Ramachandran tweeted admitting that Rahul Gandhi had indeed blown a flying kiss. She even goes on to defend the alleged gesture with a justification.

She tweeted, “Please don’t sexualise a kiss, madam! We kiss our babies…we kiss our elders…we kiss our friends of all genders, we kiss our brothers, sisters, husbands, wives and partners and the underlying emotion is just pure Grow up and find some other fault if you can!”

When a Twitter handle asked whether he got consent, she replied, “For a flying kiss to a large group of people? Next time, when Rahul Gandhi says Namaste also he will get Smriti Irani Ji’s consent! Don’t worry!”

She also tweeted quoting Smriti Irani’s video saying, “Madam, What is misogynist about a kiss? Doesn’t a father kiss his children, daughter, mother? Please don’t become like your predecessor in Mahila Morcha who throws away her brain while talking about Rahul Gandhi!”

Mohan Kumaramangalam, Working President of the Tamilnadu Congress, also tweeted in support of the alleged flying kiss. He wrote, “This is an image taken at the Red fort when he blew a flying kiss to all the Bharat Jodo Yatris. Those have hate in their hearts, gobar in their heads and acid on their tongues cant differentiate between an action signifying universal love and a misogynists perversion.”

Everyone seemed to be going the “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” way.

Alleged journalists such as these also wrote in “support” of Rahul Gandhi’s alleged gesture. He claims “flying kiss is done & accepted globally. It’s just nitpicking.”

Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP, Shiv Sena UBT Spokesperson, and former Congress member, Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “I was at the visitors gallery and he (Rahul Gandhi) did it as a gesture of affection. They (BJP) can’t accept love.”

Speaking to NDTV, an unnamed Congress leader is said to have acknowledged the alleged gesture. He said, “Rahul Gandhi gestured towards the treasury benches as he was leaving with a flying kiss as he had called them brothers and sisters. He did not direct it towards any particular minister or MP, and not at all towards Union Minister Smriti Irani”

Netizens questioned the hypocrisy and the poor behaviour of the Congress, especially that of Rahul Gandhi and those supporting the alleged gesture.
