Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister and Politburo of the Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI-M), is reportedly traveling to the United States of America for medical treatment funded by the public.
Vijayan will receive medical treatment at the very expensive and exclusive Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota at the expense of taxpayers.
This is not the first time the CM of Kerala who has always maintained that his state has the best doctors medical facilities in India traveled to the US for medical treatment.

In fact, in December 2021, the sports, Wakf, and Haj pilgrimage minister of Kerala, V Abdurahiman was given clearance to travel to the US for 20 days for medical reasons and all expenses borne by the taxpaying public. He received treatment at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in New York.
However, Vijayan will be going to America with an entourage that includes his wife Kamala and Vijayan’s personal assistant V M Suneesh who most probably be staying in some five-star hotel from January 15 to 29.
In 2018, Vijayan underwent a 17-day-treatment in Mayo Clinic for an undisclosed medical condition and the expenses of medico-tourism were borne by the state.
Many on social media asked why isn’t the Communist CM travelling to Cuba which they claim has the best healthcare infrastructure and personnel.
