Coimbatore Doctors Interrogated As Part Of Extensive NIA Raids Revealing Terror Network Tied To Bengaluru Cafe Blast

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at 11 different locations, including Coimbatore and Bengaluru, on 21 May 2024, in connection with the Rameshwaram cafe blast case in Bengaluru. Reports indicate that NIA conducted searches in Kumaraswamy Layout and Banashankari areas. In Coimbatore, the agency targeted two residences allegedly belonging to doctors named Jaffer Iqbal and Nayan Sadiq.

Previously, NIA had apprehended two significant suspects involved in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, namely Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Mateen Taahaa, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack. Following an extensive investigation and intelligence gathering, NIA succeeded in locating these terror suspects, who had been evading capture for several months. Hussain was nabbed in a well-coordinated operation, reportedly hiding in Assam and West Bengal. Prior to the blast, the duo had been residing in the Triplicane area of Chennai in January 2024.

The identification of Mussavir Hussain Shazib was facilitated by a distinctive cap he wore, aiding law enforcement in recognizing him and his associate, Abdul Mateen Taahaa, in CCTV footage prior to purchasing the cap. Hussain, a suspected terrorist from Karnataka, had been on the radar of NIA, with suspicions suggesting links to militant groups in the Malenadu region. This discovery has unveiled a broader network of individuals implicated in bomb blasts and conspiracy cases, spanning incidents in Mangalore and Coimbatore.

Jaffer Iqbal and Nayan Sadiq, both practicing doctors from Karnataka, are employed at a private hospital in Saibaba Colony. This morning, NIA officials visited their residences and conducted searches. With the cooperation of Coimbatore police, National Investigation Agency officers conducted raids at locations on Periya Subbanna Gounder Street and Narayana Guru Road in Saibaba Colony. After an hour of search operations, the officials departed. The incident, involving NIA’s investigation into two individuals associated with a private hospital, has sparked significant attention and speculation.
