CNN Smear Campaign Against India Amplifies Missionary Agenda Under The Guise Of Justice

In what can be seen as an anti-India move, American news channel CNN has aired a feature targeting India as part of itsFreedom Project, prominently showcasing Justice Ventures International (JVI), an American Missionary NGO led by Jeffrey Pankratz.

While the feature purportedly focused onslavery in South Asia,it disproportionately zeroed in on India, depicting poor individuals—many visibly Hindu with bindis and other cultural symbols—asslaves. This selective portrayal not only unfairly stigmatizes India but also appears to target Hinduism, fueling allegations of bias and propaganda.

Justice Ventures International: A Missionary Organization

Justice Ventures International, headquartered in the United States, operates primarily in India and Nepal, raising questions about its selective focus on these regions. Positioned as a justice-focused NGO, JVI’s website reveals its overt Christian missionary undertones.

When you click on the word Pray, this is what opens up. It openly calls for prayers forvictims of injustice, financial resources, and a change of heart among offenders—language steeped in evangelical intent.

The NGO describes its mission as grounded in Christian faith, stating on its website, We believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect expression of God’s love for all humanity… We seek to partner with both Christians and others in the common cause of justice.

Such rhetoric raises concerns about the organization’s actual motives, especially when paired with its call for prayers and missionary-style support.

CNN’s Role In Amplifying Propaganda

CNN’s decision to air the feature exclusively highlighting India in the context ofslavery in South Asiaappears to align with JVI’s agenda. By showcasing images of poor Hindus in traditional attire and presenting them as ‘slaves‘, CNN has amplified a narrative that smears India and its heritage. Notably absent from the segment was any acknowledgment of similar issues in neighbouring countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh which also fall under the “South Asia” bracket, raising questions about the selective framing.

This one-sided portrayal leads us to suspect the influence of wealthy backers funding this propaganda. By giving a global platform to an organization with clear missionary undertones, CNN exposes its journalistic credibility and seems to be complicit in advancing an agenda under the guise of addressing human rights.

If poverty is equated with slavery, then targeting India alone is disingenuous at best and malicious at worst. Justice Ventures International’s operational footprint—limited to India and Nepal—along with its evangelical messaging, suggests a deliberate focus on regions with significant Hindu populations. Coupled with CNN’s selective storytelling, the feature looks less like journalism and more like a well-coordinated smear campaign.

Those responsible for disseminating such disinformation should face accountability for their actions.

India deserves respect and fair representation—not to be the target of skewed propaganda masquerading as advocacy.
