Sheraldu Manohar, a priest from Sri Lanka, has served in the Christian Church in Adamappakkam, Chennai, for the past four years. An elderly woman complained to the Madipakkam All Women Police Station that Pastor Sherald and his wife were sexually harassing her granddaughter.
Based on the complaint, the police started an investigation and questioned both the victim girl and the priest. During the investigation, it was revealed that the girl had been sexually harassed over the phone and in person for the past six months. Police also arrested the priest’s wife, who was an accomplice in the crime, under POCSO act.
The Madipakkam all-women police registered a case against the two accused under the POCSO Act. They were produced before the court and remanded them in judicial custody. According to the police, the priest sexually harassed many girls and women in the past who visited the church.
